The natural ability Arno has in designing and sculpting is outstanding and his craftsmanship is appreciated both here in Australia and internationally. In his younger years Arno completed his apprenticeship in Karlsruhe, Germany, studying the art of ceramics and sculpture before moving to Australia in the early 1960’s.
Arno sometimes blends his passion for realism with a modern feel, having a natural ability to see each creation before it emerges. Each original work is hand sculptured with detail using mediums such as marble, wood, sandstone etc. With some of these originals Arno is able to allow for details to again emerge in his bronze sculptures – (the lost wax method)
Throughout the years Arno’s creative sculptures and designs have been featured in publications and Television. Arno has also had the pleasure of creating commissioned works for the late Mr. George Harrison
Arno has worked on commissioned art ranging from a 12m hand carved Maori war canoe to a large mural for Hamilton Island Resort depicting the Endeavour sailing past the Whitsunday. He has also sculptured trophies for our surf life saving clubs throughout Queensland which are in wood and gold plated bronze. Another unusual commissioned work Arno had to do urgently was to duplicate a misplaced country’s Olympic Torch for the 2000 games. With marble and inlay work on exclusive yachts to crocodiles for the Australian Film Company, Arno has enjoyed a great variety of work throughout his career.
